Im looking to book a trip in mid january and was going to rebook on the XL but they cant give and exact date of the trip and im starting to get pissed about it so im looking at the Star and Angler instead. Should i not be impatient or go for one of the other? recommendations? i know theyre all first class operations but what are YOUR opinions of these boats? Pros and cons please.

BOTH are top notch operations that will get you on the fish. I fish the Angler but the Star would be my second choice. Pick the time that best serves your needs. My .02...

Having only been on the Star out of the three mentioned and having just returned from a crappy weather January 14 day, I'd be patient. The Excel's 32 extra feet look pretty good to me!

no comparison tween the 90 ft boats and the over 100 ft boats, excel hands down over the AA unless you wish to go on the Intrepid!!!

There's a reason why those 14 day trips on the Angler are sold out. For one thing, the load is limited to 18.

Timmy ,you should try Royal Polaris. The big fella runs the tightest operation in the San Diego fleet.

ive been wanting to do an 18 day but unfortunately im limited to 10 days of vacation time from work a year so i have to try and maximize my trip time around that along with the fact that abour 45% of the days out of the year i cant take time off at all due to police rotations ect. its hard to make it all come together. that was why i was down to team hoo/excel, accurate/AA or 14 day on the star all in the same time frame. if aa would have been open i think id have gone that route to try out the boat. i got a buddy see 300 lb tuna thread that does the avet trip and i cant get his ass off that one and i cant get on it due to timing issues so we cant fish a long fish together. when he lived down here he used to charter a boat every year and we did that but no ... well we both graduated to the big time LOL

I got audited, cost me 2.5 days from work. The charge plus penalty and interest came to a grand total of $17.00. And we pay these idiot people's wages.

the response i got from the star in reply to if there was any open spots on the trip i was inquiring about was, and i quote " i dont know but im working on it"? no it seems to me that the office staff that handles booking for the boat should answer with a little better info thatn that. so as i stated above. epic fail on the stars part. team hoo here i come!

Tim, did you call and speak with Tracy at the Royal Star? She is the one to talk to (619) 224-4764. Email is not as effective...

    Good luck!

many times they have names and committs, but no soild deposit and they have to work through the names to see who is for real and who is not and call back. pick a trip and go on the wait list. yu will usually get on sooner or later. you just have to wait out your trip. yu just have to make sure you know which trip is the one you absolutely want and are willing to wait out
