    I
I think the processing plant is Chinese, and the locals are asking for a lot less than 40 miles. In the mean time how far out is local control, I mean one local police in a paga would drive these guy nuts, If one of these guys pulled up in front of Laguna Beach, they would be crucified, It's tough in Mexico but some of the coops further south seem to be having results . I think the net boats in front of SQ are mainly wrapping bait and everything with it to feed the pens, The big boys have been around forever, those pens seem to be the breaking point. Look whats happened in sea of Cortez, 8lb dorado wins tournament, that tell you anything. Good luck baja.

Totally agree and the sport and small, local commercial fishermen want to take on that goliath once this is resolved. That is a fight worthy of everybody's support...

They have just about as good of a chance getting rid of the seiners as they have getting rid of the cartels

I'll just keep wishing. Legalize marijuana in the US and I'd like to see what happens to the cartels. I know there's other drugs too, but I wonder how it would be affected by legal marijuana. Wow! I'm off the subject now.

That's a common fight for all sportfishing enthusiast. Move them out a bit , Shut them down for prime migration months? Thats common ground , that would take pressure off boats from both sides of boarder. Invite the guys from the sportfishing associations, landing whoever down straghten things out or at least get them out in the open, then try to work on common problems. Some tequila ,food ,could make people realize that when sportfishing groups fight someone else jumps inand creates other problems

ust make all boats check into Mexico and check out of Mexico, this will add 2 days at the dock in Ensenada Or San Quintin( IF There was a dock and Port Captain and dock). I believe that all the passengers and crew and captains who don't posses A FMM and are fishing within 12 nm are breaking Mexican Law. This will add more business to Ensenada local business local fisherman. also a port in San Quintin would be a great addition to Baja

Nice first post. Have you ever been to San Quintin or on a long range boat? Can you explain why someone would want to add two days sitting at a dock and how that would help the local economy?

The biggest problem is the seiners over-fishing every part off baja..
"quota" is a nonexistent word for them.... some money under the water and here they go again, to fill the boat..
that being said, sadly I don`t see the light at the end off the tunnel...
is a vicious cycle that repeats over and over again with money changing hands
It is a Goliath off a "power" that do not see the peoples necessities but just theirs.
Sad very sad is not going to end good for our next generation...

How about something like this at new port in Colinet. Make it quick and optional, nice convenient dock, fully maned by pesca, immigration, tourism, bait and fuel available. Just boats planning to go within 12 miles need stop , file plan on way down, radio check on way back, random check on way back, maybe one wvery week or so just to keek them honest. Government prices keep fuel more steady, possibly different bait. The right dock I could see some type of fleet operating out of thier anyway.

Right on Ron. You have assimilated, it shows. Saludos

PS I may be mistaken and I'll have to look at our operating permit but if my photographic memory has not run out of film, we are not allowed to set anchor on reefs. I will look this up but anyone can file a complaint with regards to violations.

There is a huge operation in BCS mostly financed by Cristy Walton called Cuna del Mar.
    http://cunadelmar.com/
    http://cunadelmar.com/portfolio-companies/
    http://www.solazul.com.mx/eng/

also here are some other "businesses" Cristy is wreaking havoc with
    http://www.ialumbra.com/founder/

Just so you know Walton Family Foundation and their various shell financial instruments is very active funding environmental corporate NGO's who have descended upon the peninsula and are currently dictating how we should live. They are also taking away our rights to access our own natural resources. Pees me off to no end... enviro corporate NGO's here are pure evil behind a happy happy joy joy presentations

California should annex all of Baja California including coastal waters for its own safety and the economic interests of California.

It would improve the standard of living for the locals... we have to do it for the children...

Try banning ensenada sardine seiners. They pound the boca and have made many a wsb bite vanish.
