Came across rod in excellent condition so I bought it . Looks to be 9’6” or 10’. Honey colored blank . Very stout. No line ratings , one roller guide at tip. Deckhand style with added real seat . Clamp style . No Identifying marks aside from this fisherman’s hardware Long Beach calif badge

Rock cod rod. The white part is for a rail plate. Slap a 9/0 full of Dacron on there and your set

I have one just like it. I found it at a swapmeet years ago. It was custom made for Richard Hightower. I was on a trip with him 7 or 8 years ago and I asked him if he was interested in getting the rod back. He replied "no thanks, you can keep it". It is still hanging from the rafters in my garage.

definitely have no use for it as a gaff or rock cod rod . this thing has a ton of backbone and seems like a super heavy rod , possibly 80lb rod ? seems parabolic enough to toss heavy jigs as well but would be heavy on the arms and shoulders to cast all day for sure. do these have any value ?

The one I have is marked "Gaff Blank" "Rock Cod Special". The rod is 9' 2" with a #30 Aftco roller tip. It is definitely a Sabre blank. I don't think those old rod cod rods have much value as fishing rods. Somebody might strip it and make a nice gaff out of the blank.

for sure , ill have to bust out the tape measure but that seems like right around its length . i guess its worth holding onto for a cool project like gaff or shark rod i suppose

Would only really have value for a commercial hook & line guy. I vote Sabre. I think Fuji made those wrap on feet clamps 50 years back or so.
