On the water report. Rodgers 16 day trip.

Some of the tuna we caught the last couple of days. Great group great food and the fishing is red hot. Independence crew rocks!
Well today is windy and rainy. Lots of guys inside waiting for breakfast. A bird got wet yesterday so the crew put him up on the bait tank to dry out. After awhile he flew off safely.

Well the rain stopped for a few hours and we went to work on the tuna. It’s been really good for a few hours out here on the independence.
Good fishing today down in the lower zone. Last nights dinner was yellowfin tuna over rice and spinach. Dam it was good. Will do some fishing after dinner and get up early and try it again tomorrow. Weather is scattered showers and some wind. Rain had let up most of the day. I will keep you posted with on the water reports.

Today on the independence the wahoo were in full force. They wanted to play and put on a big time show for us. Some of the wahoo went air borne in the air and then some just plain went on a frenzy chasing down any colored jigs offered to them. When the dust settled we boated right around 65 skins. Then we made sure everyone on the boat has a wahoo so we trolled with 1 guy on the stern with 5 rods. Well it was a double hook up and the last guy landed his wahoo. Overcast here on the bank with a little wind but not bad. Sorry no pictures. I was also rewarded a few skinny’s for my efforts. Keep you updated. 3 days to fish. A lot can happen.

Couple of pictures of just a sample of what’s going on here on the independence. Wahoo and tuna are on the chew. Back to getting my rod bent long range style.
can't see myself going on a 16 day trip again with 200 pound fish so close to san diego. the fish i have been seeing are not worth 4 days travel.

I do 4 of them a year plus three 11 day trips and five 8 day trips.

That's 8 days of traveling. Big part of the trip for me. I don't care for bluefin, by the way. Really nice fish just not for me.
