I am guessing it is the 4/0 or the 113N (YTS Baja Special)

Which is your favorite and why?

    For me that Baja Special!!!!

    Send a picture.

My wife just scored a Penn 49 at an antique store in Oregon for $35. It's in great shape, still shines! Not familiar w it yet. It has an extra lever for drag, thinking this would be a good trolling reel?? Cant's wait to learn about it and use it.
Anyone have any input on this? P49.JPG

All my Penn reels are my favorite, over the years I have owned maybe 60--70 Penn reels, Internationals, graphite 555,545, jigmasters, if Penn made it at some point I owned it.

Over the last few years I have experimented with some of the other manufacturers, Shimano, Accurate, Daiwa, they may be the in thing now, but none of them hold up as well as a Penn.

A 146 squidder with a purple accurate frame, Newell spool and a jigmaster handle with a green knob. Looks cool and works great.

The ones I just sold......sad to say after all these years the other brands are just better........although the Swordfish reel is a VSX130 with a dolphin electric drive and that will have to be pried out of my cold dead hands.

Could be the worlds all time best reel, if there was only one reel ever made, that might be the one. They seem and feel so solid. Not much in the sea that hasn't been taken down with a 4/0.

Baja Special... simple, strong, made in usa
525 Mag... excellent caster, beefy drags, landed a 40# class BF on it this year, made in usa
Jigmaster... the hot rod of all hot rods, the mods are endless, made is usa ( at least the older ones that are still a dime a dozen )
