Went out yesterday with family and friends and headed south out of DPH..the further out we got the better the water became, 74 degrees, although a bit windy, this didn’t stop the action. First Mahi on the boat was caught while dropping our sardines near a pod of feeding dolphin with no patty in sight. Made 3 stops at 3 patties and hooked up a few but lost more.. 25# leader with size 2 hooks and long soaks with big sardines and chumming with macs worked the best. I lost a biggy..broke off after the 3rd set of jumps.... I also hooked a small ravenous mako that wouldn’t let go...on our last stop we saw a small whale repeatedly charging the patty over and over, not sure if that was typical behavior, but that was a first for me. We saw tuna but they were fast and furious, they sunk down fast.... fun day overall!
