Got a late start out of Huntington due to a bad windlass. Got to Nacho's and had hoped for squid but all he had was sardines, they lasted all day and none of them turned in the tank.

Arrived at the island at 1100 and fished the east end with nothing biting. We spent a couple of hours at the east end rock fish spots and caught a lot of nice size fish. Mostly Bocaccio with a few reds and chuckles. Made a quick stop at the can dumps as the sun was going down and didn't get bit on the sardines or jigs.

Rolled into Avalon and got a ball for the night. We went in for dinner and ended up having pizza at Antonio's. It wasn't nearly as good as I remembered it being (kind of sucked). With these shorter days and early darkness everyone was pretty tired and ready for bed. Played some cards back at the boat and called it an early night.

Woke to the sounds of a cruise ship dropping anchor outside of the harbor. There was a beautiful yellow and orange sunrise across the California coast with just a hint of the predicted Santa Ana offshore wind. That breeze did warm things up a bit for the day. Make breakfast for the gang then we left the harbor for some more rockfish to fill the bag. We saw a large group of dolphins about a mile out and

Headed back to Huntington at 2pm for a nice ride home. Nice conditions with no white caps on the way in. All in all it was a good weekend and likely our last for the year unless we decide to go make some deep drops in the nearby canyons.

Sounds like a good trip loading up on the Rockfish, and thank you for posting your report.

I couldn't figure out why nobody responded to your report.
I read it and thought it was pretty cool to post your report after what sounded like a few long days . . and BOOM here's the pictures.

LOVE the ice-slurry mix keeping the COD really fresh,
annnnnd bagging the the sardines is smart along with
the cold they're in keeps the scales on'em for later usage.
Man you're paying attention to the details Val! Great job!
