Thanks for the report. I almost went out of Long Beach down to Newport to look for these fish. I ended up doing other slightly more important things instead!

Went out of Dana Point at 7 am yesterday, Thursday, and headed towards the 14 mile bank. We found lots of kelp paddies but none held bait fish or sport fish. Investigated many bird and porpoise groups but didn't see anything around them either.

After about 9 or 10 miles towards the 14, we went S/SE cruising at 25 mph and saw little to nothing to even investigate. Followed the shelf to Oceanside but there was little to nothing to even slow down for. We made maybe three stops but just more lazy birds soaking in the sun and the great ocean conditions.

At Oceanside, we turned back north but staying about halfway between the shore and the shelf. Absolutely nothing going on. Hit heavy fog for about 10 min after the SC pier and that was enough to call it a m morning. We were off the water at 1:00 pm.

We did our duty and picked up about mylar balloons. Great day to be on the water. I got to test some winter upgrades on the Arima Sea Chaser. Love this boat.

BFT like those mini langostinos. Those things have been hanging around for the past few years, just like the BFT.....go figure?

Maybe it's a time of day thing. Last couple of years, The area's were metering nothing, No birds, etc,, Until late in the afternoon (couple hrs before sunset) the areas's that were dead in the morning and early afternoon showed little or no signs of those elusive F____'S, And all of a sudden the previous dry area's floated with BFT, Just like a different ocean.

We got out yesterday from MB. Started off in LJ due to fog bank to south. As fog lifted we headed out to Upper 9. We metered some fish deep(50-200) so trolled around. No BFT seen.
Still grest to be on the water looking for BFT, YT or Bonita in Febuary!
