We finally have a few yellowtail moving back into the cabo Area. We were not As prepared as I would've liked As the YT were only hitting live bait and we ran out but we found an area that had some really nice sized fish.

We had 6 bites but only managed to get 2 to the boat. We also got a nice 23 lb cabrella. Have not put a scale on the YT but the look to be around 27 to 35 lbs. these fish really pulled hard and we lost a few on the rocks. We finally went with 80lb line and were able to get 2 up off the bottom.

I am going to try and convince tomorrow's charter to fish for them. The guys who had the mackerel for bait seemed to be getting bit much better than the ones who had the Goggel eyes. We might have to find our own bait in the morning but I want another crack at these hard fighting fish.

To most people it's a Gulf grouper but here in the south baja the locals call it a cabrilla

Fished the same are this morning. Got another gulf grouper Aka. Cabrilla. Had a few good bites that could of been YT the clients and the crew farmed them. Bite seemed allot slower today so I dropped my water wolf camera down and was amazed at all the YT down there mid depth and cabrilla and groupers on the bottom. They just would not bite all that good. That water wolf camera kicks ass to study the bottom and identify what it is your seeing on your sounder.
Check out these dorado and wahoo bites I got on video off of grey rock last November.
The camera can get down to about 330 ft. It's a must have for any serious fishemen in my opinion.

We tried every jig imaganble. For whatever reason they would not touch them. I have a few Chinese guys on the boat today and they are jig fishermen and they jigged hard all morning. They have these really short thin ass spinning rods that got some serious lifting power.
The locals that are spending the time to make the chiwellies sp? Are doing allot better than us with the cabbies.
