With upgraded drag, what's the heaviest you'd fish on it?It has Jigmaster size drags so that’s your limiting factor. It’s like an old Penn 501/506.
i have spectra backing on mine. when loading it, don't put it on "Stupid Tight" or else you may damage the spool. <--- edited. No problems fishing heavier braid with the graphite spool?
I’d fish 30# but some use 40#… probably won’t get a consistent 13# of drag which is what I’d want for fishing 40#.With upgraded drag, what's the heaviest you'd fish on it?
Easy to crack the aluminum seat? It’s a P322.I fish 25/30 on mine and have the upgraded bryan young 5 stack drag.Be careful when filling with spectra as its easy to crack the reel seat.
Have fun!
are you sure? It's black and looks and feels non metallic to my eyes and fingers and says graphite on the side of the reel but I'm no expert322 spools are aluminum, never made that size In graphite. 30lb is the sweet spot
I bought it new in the 90's. I want to say maybe 91 or 92. Straight out of the box no changesThey only made aluminum 322 spools, all the other models had aluminum or graphite.
Yours has a p322 badge but has the wrong handle and shift lever. Not sure what you got there
Yep,you could hear it when he tightened down down putting it on the linewinder.I just put a tiburon frame on it to solve that problem.Easy to crack the aluminum seat? It’s a P322.
I swear it's exactly as it was out of the box in the early 90's. Any frankenfunk would have had to have been done by Newell when they put it together. The only think I ever changed was the drag washerWhatever this Trans Non Binary FrankenNewell is, it's still a 322 sized Newell and WILL throw the jig nicely! again, just don't pack the braid on Stoopid Tight!
Just goes to show you how "interchangeable" Newell parts are!I swear it's exactly as it was out of the box in the early 90's. Any frankenfunk would have had to have been done by Newell when they put it together. The only think I ever changed was the drag washer
