I got a Newell 322-M. A much slower retrieve than most Newell reels. What do/did people use it for ?

I think it’s 4-1 or close to that. Like a jigmaster. Is it a blackie? 322M is a blackie number usually

this being said, depending on the reel Diameter & **YOUR STYLE** of strokin', sometimes a 4:1 is preferred.

That Newell article was great. Learned a lot. Had to check my 332's to see what they were. Black one was a no letter series and the purple is the S series. Both 5:1F designated 5:1

Also learned that the 500 series is popular with guys in Hawaii who use them to fish Ulua from shore. Found that particularly interesting as I just sold five 533-5.5's to a guy from Hawaii to use for shore fishing....

I have a couple Newell reels in 3.6:1 if I recall. I used them for bait fishing. A 338 and 332. My favorite all around Newell is the P533.
