newb rod question

I just purchased a Saltiga 35 Star drag with the narrow spool. I am looking to put together my first set up. i have been going on 1-3 day trips and just renting gear but I enjoy it and want to start buying my own gear. I was thinking 50 lb braid and i could do 25-40 pound leader? Also im looking for an 8' rod that would be able to fish mostly 25-30 pound fly line sardines. thank you guys for the help.

any 20-40 0r 20-50 8' rod of your choice and budget will work. Phenix, Calstar gf, seeker etc.

I use my Saltiga 35 on a UC 8’ Tilefish. I like this setup a lot.

Look at the PROTEUS 7.5, 8.0, & 8.5 length rods if you want to go all Daiwa.

I use my saltiga 35nld2 on a UC GP80 Tilefish Jr and fish 40lb on it. The 35 star drag would work great for 25-40lb. Pretty versatile reel that you could even use as your jig reel. Another rod option would be the UC GP80 Mega. I use mine with a 25/30lb leader. Great rod for fish up to the 50-60lb range.

I loaded mine with 50lb braid to get more line capacity.

Seeker or CalStar 6480 is the best all around SoCal rod and will fish 30-40lb easily.
