The Torque is a awesome real but too damn expensive and almost impossible to find a good deal on one anywhere. The Fathom is $200 cheaper.
Good deals on any brand high end reel is very difficult to find.
Very true but it's easier to find a deal on a Saltiga or Trini than a Torque.
The gold color was hideous and is the very reason I will not buy a Torque.
Just when I finally set myself up to purchase a pair of really nice star drags, Penn dropped the black Torque from the market.
I hope these are cheap
Form takes precedence over function?
We don't want them to cheap, then there is no point in buying them.
True, but I want both lol
Love my 25?fathom narrows. That said, I will buy the accurate Tern if the spool isn’t to wide. I do a lot of virticle jigging and need a narrow type spool.
Avet doesn’t have specs out yet, so if I’m going to pre buy I need specs
When a reel's color is that freakin ugly, heck yeah!
Plus, I don't want a bling reel that screams"steal me". Black is functional in that sense.
Why is it soooo f'ing hard for Avet to post the info on this reel? Seriously, you're loosing people! The Accurate is looking better and better. Love the reels, there is something wrong with the people running the company...
Comments by Chark on his Charkbait site seem to suggest, to me, that the Avet star drag reel won't be out for a little while. Once Avet posts details about the reel, I think they are obligated to post a delivery date. They may not want to do that.
I think it is funny how everyone is losing their MINDS over Avet and Accurate coming out with star drags. They gotta have all the specs and pricing and release dates NOW or they are gonna lose their shit. How did you guys ever get along before..?? I remember a time when they didn't have any.....
Oh yeah, that was 2 weeks ago..!!!
I am sure both will be good and whatever company you are a fan of will be great. Me, I am not really an Accurate guy but will sure take a look at one. Even still there will be people that cannot cast and/or fish the surface iron. A new "Magic" reel with 60# of drag burning at 50" ipt while spinning with 37 minutes of free spool will not fix that. And yet there will be those that will feel that way.
It is nice that both companies listened to the needs/wants of the fishermen and responded. My guess is it will up the star drag game to new levels never seen or thought possible....
That is my hope anyway.
So I will wait patiently and see what develops. It is great to have all these options...
I agree. And I also find it interesting how quickly some guys want to buy a brand new unproven reel. I would rather wait a year or two, just to see if there are any "bugs" in the new design. Then, after it has been redesigned, MAYBE buy one.
Avet maintained for years that they were hesitant to get into production of a Star drag reel as it would have to be a completely new design and they would have to tool up for it and there was already plenty of demand for their lever drag reels.
Apparently they feel the effort is worth the investment. These will likely be some real tanks. Hopefully Cubeye will get a chance to put one through its paces this winter and report back to us.
No. I don't plan on buying one, BUT.................
Hopefully the reel has double dogs and a ARB. That would put this reel in contention with all the "vertical jigging" reels already in the market. Huge market for these types of reels. Avet reels don't have a ARB so many people who vertical jig shy away.
There's no specs because the reel doesn't actually exist yet.
Still on the drawing board? I find it interesting that both companies put out their "news releases" within one week of each other.
I'm just goofing off, but in all seriousness all we've seen from Avet is a rendering, not an actual reel. Accurate on the other hand....
