New set mid RCLB70XL’s off the bench

    This set of 6 custom rods built on RainShadow Rod Blanks RCLB70XL's which are custom painted in a metallic blue and two cut down to 6'-9" and two to 6' 6" feature red ALPS aluminum gimbal & reel seats, black EVA foam grips, spiral wrapped red & gold guide and a 8-axis shaded chevron decorative wrap. These rods along with a matching one built earlier on an RCLB70L blank will be destined to a customer for live-bait trolling for freshwater striped bass on Smith Mountain Lake, VA

    That's a pretty set of rods.

    I was surprised to see gimbals on fresh water rods. Just how big are these bass?

    Fresh water stripers can get quite large. See MONSTER above. The lake record for Silverwood is 55 lbs and 30 pounders are not uncommon. Great set up for schoolies but If he gets bit by on of those larger units he will have his hands full. 70XL , 10-25 lb rated.

    That aside beautiful builds , very eye catching, solid construction. Will last him several life times.

    Well I wish I could say we see Striper that size on the lake - lol. On Smith Mountain they are currently getting into the mid & upper 20 LB range.

    These rods will be used to pull live Shad behind inline planer boards abs he has Cisco tube rod holders - so the gimbal is to help keep it situated in the rod holder.... and as mentioned above - it looks cool 😎
