Looks good. Like the fact they changed the handle. Hated the older ones.

For reals. It was kinda small place to put a thumb.

Thankfully they have power handles that’ll fit. Those foam ball handles don’t last long.

Just bought a 40LD2 for a yo yo reel, yes I love the handle. Haven't got to use it yet but it cranks like butter. Looks good too with the blue braid they put on it :)

Wish they offered a 25 or 30 size with 4.8:1 - otherwise not interested.

There are LOTS of reels with higher torque, lower gear ratios. I bought it specifically FOR the high gear, honestly I don't think they are nearly as good or even close to the value of my Fathoms. Get the reel that's right for you!

    Will these replace the BG's?

What applications would call for the use of this reel? I assume nothing of real size? Local barracuda, etc.? I bought one of these years ago and replaced the drag stack with carbontex. Smoother drag, fun to hookup, but zero cranking on anything of real size.

Agreed on the Fathoms. AMAZING reels for the price.

I have a saltist bg 30h with is a smaller reel. I fish 20lb mono on it and have a blast. Caught a 25lb bluefin, and the drag was nice. Caught tons of 5 to 8lb yellows on it and the drag worked well. Never liked the knob before. Hopefully the ball one will be an improvement
I like the black anodized aluminum. It is pretty durable. Gonna be getting one fasho

These reels look twice as cool as a fathom or torium.

I have a BG 30 and have done great with it. From 25 lb BFT to 20 lb YT it has held up great. It is a little work horse. Hearing the BGs will be going dirt cheap at Fred Hall with spectra fillup and I think a free rod so might have to look into that!

I heard it on Lets Talk Hookup early February when they had Turners on. Just went back and listened and they are selling them at $109 to $119 with free spectra up to 300 yards at Fred Hall. I might be mistaken about the rod but for a little over $100 you cant beat a real that can catch you rockfish to tuna!
