New Radon

I keep hearing that Radon is one if not the best boat you can get for the WestCoast. However, when I'm out fishing I never see any. All I see are hundreds of Parkers. If Radon is so good how come you don't see them all over the place? Looks like they are still making them new. Is it just the ridiculous pricing?

They aren't production boats like Parker. Fish the channel islands and you will see them regularly.

Look at the prices , They are not cheap. They are very nice boats
Parker’s are more affordable

Probably bc each one is a custom build which keeps production numbers pretty low. Hit up SB harbor and you’ll see quite a few of em.

Is there any difference between Radon and Davis boats. Seems from what I read that Radon sold the rights to Davis at one point? So basically they are same hull?

Hull design is very similar to the Radon's that Don Radon is still building today in Goleta. Harold Davis is retired so only used Davis boats are available, but he build some solid boats with high quality. The biggest difference is probably the deck/hatch design. Davis boats all have a "grid with lids" style deck as where a Radon is more of a standard deck with hatched built in flush. Hard to describe but if you saw them you'd know what I meant.

I thought Don closed shop and Jeff picked up the last mold? At least that's what I thought I saw on Jeff's instagram. But maybe that was Ron Radon Jr. in Oregon.

Are the Anderson molds that Ed is building a Ron Radon Sr. Design? I love his new boats, they are so bitchin.

When looking for a Radon or Radon style boat sometimes you got to find a turd and polish it. The good ones sell fast.

To further the convo, Radon did sell the hulls to Davis in the 1990 time frame, Davis made boats until 2007. Radon did restart and both are great with a nod towards Davis for "creature comforts" if you see used boats of either on the market...which as said, like hens teeth. There is a pretty good article in the August edition of PCS about Harold Davis.

Don is still in business in Goleta. Jeff got a 29 and 16 mold from Ron Jr and made his own 22 mold...which rides extremely well.
