New at ICAST 2022: "Gen2" PENN Fathom lever drag reels

That’s a great change for the 40N. It’s now got more speed for the YoYo jigs and lower gear for up and down battle!

Can’t wait to buy the lefty version.

Gonna see in person how big of a difference the 6.0-1/1.9-1 gearing change is going to make.

Not sure i like the change on paper. For high gear and ipt applications (wahoo, YT wouldn’t) that makes more sense to me on a single speed.

Almost all of the Gear ratios/IPT's are the same as the Gen1's, except for the 40N 2-speed, which is now 6.0-1/1.9-1, and 50/16 IPT.
Weights are about 1/2 ounce less than the Gen1's.

I guess this will be my new speed jigging reel!

Scheduled to start arriving on retail shelves around the end of September.

All Leftys are 2-speeds.
Sizes 15XN, 25N, 30, and 40N.

True but we don’t have anything up in norcal that needs that size reel. Most charter captains are running avet sx and mx size reels. They all love the single speed fathom 15 but that doesn’t come in lefty.

Both Ben and I did a TON of videos; I literally lost track of how many.

Get the Squall 2. Graphite frame isn't an issue unless you get into bigger size tuna. Even for bigger size Tuna, the 15 fathom with a metal frame still isn't the reel you should be using.

Thats to bad they should have keep it black if its anything like the shimano speedmaster Cosmetically the boat rash and scratches will look terrible

I would add it would be too bad for speedmaster……Silver color matches any rod color…for people who likes black, they have the Gen 1 option.

It will be option until they all sell out and you have to buy them used. Good thing they are like Toyota Camrys. Reliable and everyone and their mom has one so supply won't be a major issue.

I am curious about the 80 and 60N. Is the 60N same as the 40N but greater capacity? The 80 if the die cast frame holds could be the new budget 80/100 and budget trolling and kite reel.

As best as I can describe it, the "80" size is about the same dimensions as a 6/0 Senator.
The new "60N" size is just a narrower version of that.
Really old people will know what I mean when I say its about like a 349H.
