Well me and my buddy Ernie launched out of Daveys at around 5:30 am which we where suppose to leave around 4am but I left it up to the wife to set the alarm and just so happened she set it at the right time but forgot to change it to am. So woke up said "%#! $", jumped out of bed and saw the missed calls saying "I'm here, where are you?" Anyway we managed to get going, shot to good ol nachos bait and took a scoop, six boats ahead so decided while waiting to pick up some macks. Are plan was to shoot down south toward Dana but ended up seeing patties and for some reason kept pulling us toward east end of Catalina, we where probably 7 mile south east of end point and we saw some birds sitting on a nice little patty so we decide to toss in some chunks and we both threw out macks on 30lb. test about 30 seconds and my boy yells " I'm on" I'm thinking "nice" maybe dorado, yellow, maybe yellow fin, "BUT THEN" hahahaha I see this beautiful fish jump out of the water and dance, splash, shake it's BILL and I couldn't believe it, a STRIPER, Ernies screaming because he's only really fished when I've invited him and pulled him into the sport, so he's thinking "we'll what the hell do I do now"? Haha and I'm still shocked at seeing this monster jumping out of the water and I look at him and just say "HOLD ON". So he fights it for about 30min and hands it off hahaha I know, little did I know it was gonna be another 2 hours before he finally gave us just enough to get him to the boat, that fish kicked my ass, blisters on the fingers and all, totally worth it. We got him to the boat Ernie gaffes him below upper fin and he's so stoked that we got him to the boat that he forgets we still gotta get him in the boat haha, now I just bought about 8 months ago a 20ft Robalo center console and there's no real easy way to slide him in the boat so we walk him to the back where it sits a little lower in the water and I gave it the last real energy I had and Ernie saw me and new I didn't have too much more in me and he fuckin HULKS out and we both pull the monster in, WOW what a fish... we where beat, we stopped on the way back to get it weighed at the spot next to the L.B. harbor police station because I saw the certified weigh station so we pull up and the guy says yeah it works, well we get it off and he didn't know how to operate the sling arm so he had another part you could weigh it by but had no way to lower the chain and hook so we would have to pick it up and find a area hard enough on the fish to hold it to the hook, went behind the gill and "RIP" it starts to tear the gill so we tried under the chin and it held but the fish was too long and bottom half was resting on the dock hahaha, I thought the hardest part was over, anyway the only area which the fish could hang was in the position it already was so the scale went 130-140lbs up and down while resting on the dock as the dock moved wtf. So never found the true weight of this beauty but this is truly a once in a lifetime trip. After all the days work all I could think about was how lucky I was to have a dad that introduced me to an awesome sport, even when coming in skunked it was always a good time. Not this time, this time it was unbelievable. Thanks big E, we gotta get back out there brotha, let me know! Thanks for reading, this is my first post, and what a season it's bean, TIGHT LINES...

Looks like a striped marlin , not a broadbill swordfish? Nice catch either way!
