You are talking next fall, right? I think that you missed the window for this year.

If you want to stay close to home, look into OPTIONS. If you drive south, there are a lot of great family-group charter boats, especially in the San Diego/Mission Bay area. Some of the finest charter boats in the whole world leave from our ports. Outstanding captains and crews. If you are "just OK" in this arena, you don't last.

Lots of good choices. Depending on your family size, owner Eric on Sauerfish runs an outstanding 6-pack out of Shelter Island. I’ve chartered his boat twice with good success and experiences. Good luck and post up after your trip next year. FYI, I have no affiliation or interests in the charter other than it was very positive.

    FYI,
Eric sold the Sauerfish early this year.
He is now partner on the Tomahawk.

    Robert,

Thanks for the update about Eric. I’ve spent the last couple of summers up in Canada exploring and fishing for salmon and have been a little out of touch. It’s been about a year or so since I last spoke with him. He repowered the Sauerfish not long ago with some nice new twin screws. Hopefully he is doing well on his Tomahawk endeavor. Again, thanks for the update.
