going on a Nantucket shoals fluke trip. Looking at United composites rods. Love the classic series with the cork. Need to be able to handle dropping 16 oz or more. What model would you recommend. Kind of like a med fast action so I can let them chew.

I'm not quite too sure on the new root beer blanks. The 7'9 ones. I put a bend in a few of them and I don't see it holding 16oz properly. But the rce blanks I can vouch for. Trophy tackle has the blanks in white or black with cork. The rce700L is good up to 12oz. The 700M is definitely what your looking for for 16oz. Those blanks are a blessing and perfect for us on this coast! I can't thank UC enough for making them!!

Also, the tilefish would be way overkill. I use it for jigging tiles up to 28oz. The tilefish jr is F'in sweet!! Good up to 20oz and a gorgeous bend!

Never bought anything from trophy tackle. I guess just call them?

Think 7’ is enough for a party boat?

Yes! I absolutely love cork as well! Lol I definitely think it's an east coast thing! For fluke fishing, absolutely! No need for the added length!

Good luck and tight lines! Got a couple of those trips lined up as well. I'm not really big into fluking but my dad is so hopefully this is the year he gets his doormat as well!

I’m thinking the 700m will also be good for other things as well.

Yeah that 700m will also double up for offshore seabass and block island cod. I didn't mention it for George's or Nantucket cod because you run the high probability of hooking into some really big stuff out there!
