Was originally planning to fish my home boat ( Liberty) but the crowd made me think other wise. My buddy wanted to fish the islands in his skiff.
Let’s roll.
Got bait and headed out in glassy conditions.
First boat out there and it paid off.
At 8:00 am we already had a handful of yellows. It was wide open for the most part on calicos and cudas on the iron. With an occasional yellow.
While fishing the iron I got nailed by the biggest island yellow I’ve seen in a while. At least a 25 pound fish gobbled my iron right at the boat and broke me off. My fault I fished calicos the day before and didn’t replace my line after fishing kelp. My buddy mike got a couple on iron too.
Went looking around and found a school and wacked em pretty good. Lost a few to brake offs and one to a dog.
By noon we were out of bait so it was all jigs and rapalas.
We got 1 rapala fish and shortly after called it a day.
Epic skiff day.
Bitchin weather.
Go get um!

Wow, great skiff day! Were the fish in only select areas, or pretty much anywhere around the islands was holding fish?
Fish were in tight to South Island. Scattered schools. Lots of calicos and barracudas also.
SKR was also holding lots of fish. They weren’t eating the jigs though.
