Launched at 6 this morning with my buddy Michael and headed to the islands with a great half scoop of bait. Weather was cold and there was a decent north wind with slightly lumpy seas.
Got to my spot in decent time and started picking at the bottom critters. We were able to put together a decent morning with a nice mix of lings, sheepshead, reds, and 1 chucklehead. All fish were caught on live bait between 130 and 150 ft. I did get nearly spooled by a mystery fish that dumped my spool in a matter of seconds before breaking off. I'm thinking a big black or shark but who knows.
Water around the islands was 55 to 57 degrees and green. Wind started to picked up more around 1030 so we split and was back on the trailer before noon. Good luck out there and stay safe!
