We love Loren. You hear of these things happening, but when its somebody you know...I heard of this yesterday and I could not get it off my mind. Like others who posted, I just did the PV 3 day last week with him. Did a lot of catching up - I kept thinking about how content he was with his life, according to his own words. So tragic...Damn fine angler and a gentleman at the rail....Damn fine human being.....my heart is very heavy. I am hoping for a miracle.

Kevin, I'm on the trip as well Loren and I were looking forward to sharing the rail with you and having many laughs. In his honor I will fill his shoes as the charter master. His smile and laughter will be missed!

Great of you to step up Glenn. Let me know if I can help in anyway.

For the short time I fished with Loren, I always remember him having fun and being lighthearted. He spoke often about his kids. He'll be missed by all.

Loren was my son's baseball coach at Carlsbad youth baseball. He is a great man and father. Around that time (12 years ago) he took me out on his boat to the Barn Kelp and showed me how to fish the Calicos in the weeds. That trip changed my outlook on fishing local O'side waters. I'm still hoping....

Tragic, he sounds like a great guy. We don't know what happened but falling overboard is a real concern. Maybe he experienced a medical issue? I've been meaning to set up a life jacket with a handheld radio, flares and mirror for solo trips.....this is a scare for sure.

I got recalled Tuesday night to search from 8pm to 4am. As a fishermen and boat owner I kept running scenarios over and over in my head as we searched on a coast guard 33' boat. My condolences go out to his family and all his friends! Be safe guys and try and fish with a buddy!
