Nice fish!! I just got my girlfriend into offshore fishing as well and she got her first one a few weeks ago that was 25/30~ lbs. We're going again in Sept and bringing along her friends as well haha. Buying her some gear definitely helped convince her to go too

Tami and I met 2-14-1983, we went on her 1st trip in June, a 5 day on the Qualifier 105 and caught the first sport Albacore of the year.
We fished together until the kids came along in '87, so I kept going, after babies, she couldn't look at the water without getting sick.
Fast forward to June, 38 years later, and this is the 1st and 2nd bluefin for her, 176 and 132, the 125 peanut was mine .
Many Thanks to David Han for handing her his only hookup for the day to get her first Bluefin!

Edit for clarity!!
She was handed the 1st fish, the 176, fought it all the way to gaff.
After that she hooked and landed the 132 by herself.
(Yes boys, I got beat up for not including this in the original story line!!!!)

I just started off-shore fishing with my husband last month. He started me out on a half-day boat, and I was hooked! We booked another half-day almost immediately...and then another. We were just going for rockfish, but I kept seeing other boats come in with BIG fish. My husband told me the big fish were Bluefin, and we'd need to go on a full-day boat to try and catch one. So I booked a full-day boat and it paid off!!! I know it was probably beginners luck, but I brought home a 60+lbs BLUEFIN. I will never forget the feeling when I saw my fish nearing the surface, but the feeling I got once my fish was on deck and the fight was over was INSANE.

We went fishing out of H&M Landing in San Diego, on the Grande (07/03/21). There were 35 anglers and the fish count was: 14 Bluefin, 1 Yellowfin. The crew was awesome, and I loved talking to other anglers on the boat, who I learned so much from....such a rad community of people with a badass hobby!

Congrats on your fish. Outstanding! Particular good to see you caught it on the Grande. The Grande, ex America, holds a special place with me. Serious sportfishing followed by a 40 year professional career on oceans and seas all over the world, for me it all really began on the America many years ago.

Awesome! Couples that fish together, stay together IMHO. I had to make sure my husband could hang before we tied the knot. I took him to the East Cape and the rest is history. Coming up on 21 years next month. A great place for couples fishing for "cold water species" is Queen Charlotte Safaris. We'd be happy to team up sometime. In the meantime keep feeding your addiction!
