Looking for an accurate figure of line cap on an mxj spool. I plan to use 65# jbraid to 30# mono top shot for throwing irons, but I am not sure if I will have enough space on the reel for 75-100yd topshot if I go with 65#.

Searched around and it looks like a few guys used 50# and got around 400# yards, but I dont know how much top shot they had on. additionally I find Avets line cap figures to be unrealistic (900yds of 30#, really?)

Word from anyone who has actually spooled an mxj with 65# would be appreciated.

My MXJ has 300 yards of 65 lb braid with a 25 yard top shot. Should be able to get 250 yards of braid with 100 yards of mono. Maybe more with thinner braid.

I got 400 yards of 50lb yozuri superbraid on mine no room for long topshot. If your going to run long top shot of mono I’d probably spook with 200 yards of 50lb and you may get over 100 yards of 30lb mono.

One issue with Avet is that they are notorious for over stating both line capacity and drag output. They make great reels but it would be very helpful for them to simply spool with a known diameter line and provide realistic capacity numbers. Or for someone on BD to compile the info into a thread and pin it to the top in this forum.
