Ok, all you avet lovers out there. This is my second avet and I need some help to max out the use of the reel. Just bought a MXJ 6:1 with #30 topshot and what to get a good rod to go with it....seeker? I throw irons with my 6/3 but I am thinking I should use this one for free swiming bait. Need your opinion.

Assuming your 6/3 is an MXJ... they both have the same size spool and should cast about the same distance-wise. Once you mate it to the Calstar that Matt turned you onto, the only decision you have left is what line class to spool it with. Use the two-speed for potentially heavier fish and line. Use the single speed for lighter line and potentially lighter fish.
I would be interested to see how the two cast side by side... Good luck.

This is great. I have #40 backed by #60 on the 6/3 and #30 #50 on the mxj. I am going to look for a calstar this weekend and test it our, thanks
