Been on a couple of trips where a guy set a boombox on top of the tackle area next to the cabin...and played different types of music on deck during the trip. For me, it interfered with any PA announcements the captain was trying to give out...old fart, and was the firearms instructor/range master for our department, so my hearing is shot. But both guys had a good selection of music...at times, it was pleasant. Does it add to your trip, or is he on the road to being "that guy." I'll settle as long as it's not in the cabin...and it's catchy :D

I think it depends on who is on the trip and if it’s blasting. Some people like the quiet of a drifting boat others don’t

In my experience it is so rare that there is music playing while out on sport boats.. I like when it is, even if it isn't my first choice of music.. I've had a few trips on the El Dorado where it was the norm but could've just been a passenger playing it I don't remember

If it's good for the deckhands, it's good for me.

I like classic rock playing on deck when fishing, for sure. From the crew. Helps me get into the zone. They know good fishing music. Can't say that for all passengers music

I also like it when everything goes silent on a long plunker and it becomes surreal. Accept the sound of music boils and fresh one.

    It depends on the mood

When I fish on my ski I sometimes have my UE Boom cranking but on my mates boat he doesn't have music on much.
I have a mix on my phone called "jigging" with rock tracks with solid drum beats, great for mechanical jigging to...

Might be an old guy, but I enjoy the peace and quiet. Music in the dining area is fine, usually chosen by the chef, but outside I prefer the ocean/engine/fellowship.

Depends on the trip. The Excel has a 16 day in Jan. and they bring amps-speakers and for the next 16 days its like a concert. I myself love it..... that's why I go on that trip.... some trips don't like music.... that's when my ear buds come in..... it all depends on the trip. Just ask around and get a feel for the trip your on.

question about loud music on private boats, does it affect the fishing?

    thanks,

El Dorado played reggae through their PA speaker sometimes, exclusively Bob Marely. I think it is because they have Siriux XM on boat and they are constantly tuned in on Raggae channel. At least that was what they played on last year trips on November and December.

Mike Nall on the Rooster has a nice blend of music going in the galley. Shows he has a complex music mood along with his blend of food. Never boring...

I was on a 1.5 where there was country playing. Definitely scared the blue fin away. As soon as NWA started playing though. THEY BIT. Bluefin are gangsters so they listen to rap music

I'm an old guy also, and when I go out on a trip, it is get away from telephones, music, news and all the other things that go on in life. I am out to enjoy the solitude of the ocean and pleasure of being on a vacation. I am not able to afford to make many Long Range trips, but when I do I like it peaceful.

    Song choice is crucial....
Fishing has a rhythm and the right song can help keep that rhythm....
A personal favorite while in full slay mode is yyz by rush but there are many other tunes that can increase success IMO ...
