Left Dana Point at 5:30 with a 1.5 scoop of healthy dines. Set course be straight out of O'side about 4 miles off shore. The water was 65 and dirty.

We set course west toward the 209 water warming the whole way about 4 miles short we are now in 70 deg blue water and we spot breaking fish. They are tearing apart a micro size school of anchovies. We pull up beside the feeding frenzy I toss in a dine on a Tallus 8' 40-80 paired with a MXL 2 spd. spooled with 65 braid and a 30# flouro leader with a 2/0 circle hook. Two seconds later its game on...10 min. later we get the fish to the boat and sink the gaff, game over. We repeat this scenario 6 times. The second and third fish were on 40# Terez 8' 50-100 with a JX 2 spd. 65 braid, 40# flouro 2/0 circle hook. Now it's time to up the game. The next two fish are on a Calstar 6' xh paired with a Pro Ex spooled with 100# braid and a 60# flour leader tied to a 3/0. We made short work of the last two fish. These fish weren't line shy at all. The last fish came on a b/c jig casted into the mayhem. This game played out for about 2 hours until the fish sank out. We had 6 fish in the boat by 11 so we decided to head back home. Weather was great, mild seas and very little wind. Go get some!

All of the fish went for 35-37 lbs except the last jig fish was 30 lbs.

Nicely done! Still looking for that 1st BF. Got our 1st YF on the Aluminum Chariot (14ft Klamath) on Fri. What's cool is we ran 74 nautical miles burning 13 gallons of gas! Gotta love it!

There still seems to be confusion identifying tunas. Maybe the moderators should put up a tuna identification if they haven't already.
    Nice chunky fish.

I was a few miles away from you folks and heard you a several times on the radio. Unfortunately, the tuna I found did not want to bite. Great job.

One of the quickest and easiest ways to distinguish between YFT vs BFT (even when it's been dead for a while) is its anal fin. If silver = BFT // yellow = YFT.

And I still mis-ID every once in a while. Sunday I had to do a side by side comparison, since we were 8 months out of practice (2 years out for BFT)
