I guess they'll turn us all into law breakers eventually.

I posted on another thread, but I'll put it here too so we can spread the message....

----------------

This was taken from the MSP (marine spatial planning) Stakeholder Analysis pdf. (available at Marine Spatial Planning Stakeholder Analysis)

------------------------------------------------------------

"Major themes from West Coast interviews

Two formal interviews were conducted with state coastal managers from the West Coast. The interviewees pointed to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) MSP document for guidance on both the process and definition. The importance of data as the foundation for MSP has been acknowledged on the West Coast; in a recent West Coast data workshop (which the interviewees attended), gaps in socio‐economic data, bathymetry, and coastal and near shore habitat data at both the state and regional level were brought to light.

Beyond the data content, the interviewees also discussed issues around data standardization and consistent metadata formatting. Other obstacles to MSP include lack of a mandate, misconceptions over what MSP entails, public belief that MSP is the same as the MPA process, public mistrust of the federal government, and lack of funding.

<...this is my favorite part...>

Several times, the interviewees mentioned the strong public involvement tradition along the West Coast.
"
------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah!

By the way, it also mentions:

"Major stakeholder groups and partnerships:
West Coast Governors’ Agreement on Ocean Health,
State coastal management programs,
State of Washington Puget Sound Partnership,
California Ocean Protection Council,
The Nature Conservancy,
EcoTrust,
Center for Ocean Solutions."

I strongly suggest that you guys read that pdf if you get a chance...it's got lots of info in it!

I think most everyone here missed this in the rush to jump off the bridge and get the pitchforks, but this article is opinion, not news.

We've known about this task force for ages. I read about it a year ago. They took public comment for months. The author even points this out. A similar article could have been written a couple months ago: "Governor's MLPA Task Force Quits Taking Public Commentary."

He also points out that the document the task force created doesnt even mention recreational fishing. He cages it by saying it doesnt mention the benefits to the economy but fails to mention that it didnt mention recreational fishing at all.

That having been said, I love it. I'm happy ESPN posted it and I'm happy Drudge linked to it no matter how far it's twisting the facts.

If it takes this kind of yelling, hyperbole, and 'yer takn our guns! gas guzzlers! jebs!' fear mongering to shed some light on the corruption and truly dastardly politics that have railroaded the rights of the citizen in favor of the will of the environmentalist trusts and the corporations who fund them, then so be it.

My question is how is it that there can be this kind of fervor over a federal task force's job drawing to a close when we have cold stone proof that the entire MLPA process was funded by Fringe Environmentalist money? They dont even deny it. The state quit funding it and yet the money kept flowing in. What if the City of San Diego quit paying Police Officers next month, only to have them stay on the job on a environmentalist trusts dime? The government NEEDS to pay for some things as the laws they pass need to take into account the many uses of the resources affected. They've completely thrown impartiality out the window.

How about the members on the BRTF who had personal financial interests in protecting certain habitats and then did so?

I watched as a representative of the Warden's Union walked to a podium and told the BRTF that the new regulations would be unenforceable only to be ushered off the mic as his 30 seconds of time drew to a close.

There's something far more insidious and evil going on here than the 'socialist! hitler! sleeper cell!' crowd can stamp their feet about. It's mineral rights, it's oil, and it's getting the private citizen out of the way of the corporation while hiding behind greenwash camouflage.

F-the government. These dumb shits get voted in by the people, so we can kick them out. Making us not have a voice, what is this, North Korea??? All states would loose out on so much money that is generated by the fishing industry. Hunting will be next! Would love to go one on one in the octagon with all the dumb asses in our government. Maybe Dana White and the UFC would sponsor it.:_smack_:
Sorry, just venting

hi guys - I am going fishing this weekend and need to know where to pay the carbon tax? anyone? maybe I'll call up my loser congress rep and ask - and while I'm at it I'll ask why reps get their full pay for life after only serving one term, and are exempt from the so-called health care plan, all OSHA, sexual harassment rules, etc etc...

tight lines,

This thread should be in every regions page moderators. Alot of guys only check their area and everyone.....especially here in Hawaii should see that their so called "native son" is radical with more concern for special interests then the people of this great country!

I just was informed about some public meetings regarding DLNR and all BOTTOMFISHERS in hawaii. The meeting in Maui is going to be the 22nd. I am going to post some updates about this in the next few days but its more of the State and Federal government intruded on our Freedom.

This is the only warning before infractions start being given.

STOP THE PARTISAN BS.

The thread will stay open and unlocked for debate but there is a line that you cannot cross. You cross it and your post will be deleted and infractions will be given. Myself as well as the other moderators are getting tired of having to babysit these threads.

Sorry marcus...frustration keeps mounting. This will be my third fun activity put to rest by eco-activists having their way, and I am sure I speak for many when I say I am tired of it.
Boating and fishing are the only escape I enjoy from my otherwise hell of a life, and one is worthless without the other.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in agreement that the eco-nazis are a bunch of morons and want to shut down rec fishing. The amount rec's take is miniscule and has very little if no impact on the general health of fisheries.

I grew up fishng my whole life and some of my best memories growing up were spent with my family. Fishing, hunting and just enjoying nature. I don't have kids yet, but I hope when I do have kids that I will be able to pass on the memories to them as my dad did to me, my brother and sister.
