So, this is a little late, but my wife, Denis, and I took our boat out of Morro Bay for the first weekend of rockfish season back on April 3. Gorgeous day for our Crestliner Superhawk 1850. Usually we get a good morning in before the post-lunch winds kick us off. Well, we were only about 30 minutes into our first drift in about 130' of water, jigging 6oz jigs heads when Denise stuck this beauty. We ended up catching 5 lings that morning, only 2 legal size. We also switched back and forth with cut bait and limited on rockfish as well. Not a bad opener.
