Striped bass fishing is getting tough. Right now boats on a halfday trip are lucky to come back with a couple of fish, and there areen’t thatmany bluefish around to provide some action. During the week some of thecharters startyed heading over to Southwest Ledge, but that has dried up aswell.

But, the bottom fishing has been hot. The fluke are cooperatingwherever you like to fish, from as far west as the Parachute Drop to the localrips. Head out into deeper water and you’ll get a mess of seabass as well.

Shark fishing is doing well if you like fighting big bluesharks.Makos are still scarce though with most of the ones being caught on the smallside.

Out on the Edge, the bigeyes are still biting, but you have to putin your time as aweel as be in the right place at the right time. And, don’tbring in the lines too soon in the evening as some fish have been takentrolling in the dark.

Yellowfins are still a little few and far behind, but the longfinsgot busy on Sunday with a good bite on the southern side of the Dump, with someboats racking up a dozen or so fish. Before Sunday it was hit or miss, withmore misses than hits.

A couple of weeks back I mentioned a rumor about some giantsbehind draggers in the Butterfish Hole, but was wrong. It was the Mudhole wherethey were popping up and a couple of Rhode Island boats have been hooking up.
