My wife arrived 3/3 and was greeted by ongoing flooding from a broken hot water supply line in the master bath. I talked her through shutting off the water and the boiler overheated and the smoke set off all the fire alarms just as our broker arrived with her husband a fire captain in Missoula.

I flew up to Spokane on Saturday where my wife picked me up and we drove back to Stevensville, MT. I punched in a couple vacation days plus some work days, intending to fly back 3/15. On Monday, my employer sent out a notice that we were all work from home for 14 days starting on Tuesday due to Carona Virus. That has been extended indefinitely. So I’m up in Montana, working from home. My son says it’s crazy hysteria down in SoCal, so don’t bother to come home until it’s over. Things are pretty normal up here, though Missoula Costco did impose a two pack limit on toilet paper.

The water damage is covered by insurance. They are gutting the south wing of the home which contains the master bed and bath plus laundry room. My wife is getting that remodel she planned a lot sooner than expected. Two tankless water heaters have already been installed along with a Moen Flo leak detection system.

I talked with the fly shop in Hamilton and they are already getting fish on Skwalas. Have the day off today, but snow and wind are coming in. Should warm up middle of next week and restart the Skwala invasion.

There's a lot of hysteria but little instances of the virus... so far. I was told to work from home on Wednesday until further notice, won't have to tell me twice!

Good stuff. Talked with our contractor 2 days ago. They will have the front porch and garage/shop slabs formed by Tuesday and concrete will be finished by Friday. Cover that with concrete tarps to keep it warm enough to cure and they'll be framing the next week or so. Trusses arrive in a week and a half. Looking like the entire shell and roof extensions will be up in short order. At this point we'll be back in Ennis April 5th and that first week's priority will be to obtain drivers licenses and register our vehicles. Driver's licenses that week means I'm just under the wire for resident deer and elk tags when the rifle seasons open in October. Once we get there in April the entire west coast can kiss my ass. Target finish date for the project is early August, but could be sooner.

Don’t you need to be there as a resident for 6 months before you can get a Driver’s license?

Nope. Can get that right away. However, you have to live in the state for 180 consecutive days to qualify for resident hunting/fishing license and big game tags.

Couple of updates:

1) settled with insurance at $128K ao now begins the reconstruction.

2) Today my employer (Federal Reserve Bank of SF) said they are in no hurry to get us back into work. The work from home was worked well. They said the timing to go back to the office is measure in months and that some may never need to go back to the office. My Senior Group VP said he was inspired by the pics of Mountain View’s I had sent him and he drove to Colorado Springs over the weekend to stay with his mother. So it looks like I will be up her most of summer.

WFH is working well, I doubt we’ll ever all be back in the office, especially at the same time. I think this is a watershed event in terms of how we all work.

That’s the message we’re getting at the Fed.

MANY businesses are discovering the same thing. There will soon be a lot of office space available for new businesses to start up. Owners of parking structures and local restaurants are crying about "no customers" but as new businesses move in, parking and meal prices can go up.
Then...…...When you factor in all the cars that wont be on the road - with so many converting to WFH - global warming goes away, too. win-win. :)
