Purchased a 1997 Livingston 12’ late last year right before winter. We took it out a few times and identified a few things I wanted to do before this summer. It’s still a work in progress. Had some light fiberglass touch up. using a 57 Evinrude 15hp, might throw on a similar vintage 18hp for grins this summer.

Main goals....
- replace bolt thru hull seats
- lights for night boating/fishing
- small front platform for nav light, possible trolling motor
- small switch panel, battery, storage cabinet in aft-port hole
- minor fiberglass repair

boat seats first... basically these were attached all the way thru the hull and was causing water to leak while underway. Took old seats out and rusted swivels. Filled holes with epoxy and fiberglass on both inside under exterior.

Making an HDPE base for seats to attach to with wire channels for nav light, spot light, curtesy lights

Trying to figure out a small 15” deep platform for front of boat. Want to mount nav light, spot light and possible trolling motor to front...

in this picture the front of the platform is flush with the front peak but not level

This picture has the platform mostly flush with the rail which points up some.

I plan on routing the front out to match the contour of the boat. The front part of the boat is not real flat. Either I need to lift rear of platform up to be flush with the front or instead attach at the angle of the rail and fill the gaps at the front with something

Seats bolted through the floor?

How long were the bolts, and did they protrude through the floor or into the tunnel the seats are mounted on?

They were a good few inches. They went thru the floor and into the tunnel.

here was a pic from bottom of tunnel after initial patch

Decided to build up the rear of the platform with additional HDPE. Expecting to bolt this down, and use router to follow edge contour. Considering some camper tape or butyl be a little bit of gap filler?

I've owned 5 livingstons over the past 30 years. They cut through swell and chop like butter. If your caught out in a storm (in a small boat) and fighting your way back to harbor, this is the one to be in.

Suggestion; I would consider mounting two 6 gallon fuel tanks in the front as they will fit perfectly in the starboard and port nose(s). You then run the fuel line back to the motor.

I did this with my 10', 12', and 14' models and it makes the weight distribution conducive for a much better ride and allows the hull to get up on a plane easier. Plus it makes good use of useless space.

thanks, will take a look at that, been thinking about how best to leverage front for some storage. My two kids do like sitting up front but there is still good space to use for something.

Crossing my fingers on the cut thru chop like butter this summer. We visit Lake of the Ozarks frequently, I don‘t know if we would be safe on a busy weekend or get instantly swamped. I’m going to try it thou!

Final routing, added nav light, might need a minor edge sanding but platform is basically done. Expecting to be able to put a trolling motor on this eventually.

repaired a number of gelcoat chips, polished and waxed the boat. I also put new boat numbers/letters on plus installed a transom saver. Over the winter I added a fuel pump to the old Evinrude to use a normal gas tank.

Took out to small local lake tonight. Getting about 16mph on 15hp with 2 kids and myself in the boat.

Made some progress on battery box, console... have the angle of the top down and frame of box made. Will be angling the side near tunnel hull to put waterproof switches, and 12v outlet.

I have my main objectives met now, finished with all round pole light and made cover for top of console box with rounded edges. Have just enough room to hold a gallon of oil and fire extinguisher plus able to inspect or adjust drain hole wo cover.

Just in time, the boys and I are fishing Norfork lake this week. Gonna catch something.
