This is why I bought my own boat and Food Saver sealing machine...Now, when I leave fish to find bigger fish, I just blame the Good Wife.....and, I always compliment her on how well she bags and seals my catch....

Old Chinese proverb: He who would be wealthy, keep purse strings closed...Unless you are buying a new boat....

I caught 1 lost 1 to tangles. I usually go on the San Diego but sharing the rail with 55 gets old really quick. So thats why I got on the Belle the 38 heads @$160 SD @ $160 55 heads. Regardless he left biting fish that have been biting for over a week. Everyone was getting nearly full limits even a few of the LR boats were fishing with the fleet. No need to leave, You are already a hero getting limits close to home maybe you are a bigger hero if you do it "finding your own fish" IDK you tell me. Its not that hard to see where the fleet is fishing marine traffic.com showed exactly where the fish were.

Better than the boat I was on. We were headed to that plunker bite on the 9 and we were about a mile away when the captain made a u-turn to start heading back north. We saw all the boats parked including a couple of sporties. He didn't even give us a chance.

So if it went wide open at 302 he would have been a hero ....buy a boat and make your own choices ....

I guess comprehension is not on your side, He would have been a hero fishing the 9 like the rest of the 300 boats. I guess finding your own fish makes you a hero's hero!!! Man the people on BD its hilarious.

You got 1 fish in an hour of decent fishing ? you need to brush up on your skills.Better yet buy your own boat or get a Captains license and show us how it's done.Or stick to Perch killing.

The captain of the aztec will give you a running commentary all day on what he is doing, what he is seeing, why he is going where he is going. I actually like it. It at least makes me feel he is trying his hardest and not on a burger run.

That's cool. I get the commentary on what he's seeing and doing, and most boats I've been on will do that since it's beneficial to the passengers and fish counts to know, for example, "there's bigger bluefin hanging out underneath the yellowfin in 60-120 feet, so some of you should try flat falls or small Colt Snipers." But I've never had one say in anything more than general terms where we are. No benefit to them with that information. It just gives the BDYelp posters more info to post that sends the weekend warriors in to mess up the bite.

I'm pretty sure the Mission Belle captain's goal was not to burn more fuel by driving from the 9 to the 302 and back to kill the fish counts. That's definitely not a burger run. LOL

Was the rsw working on the boat?
A buddy of mine fished on the belle on Monday, and mentioned they had put multiple bags of ice in the hold.

$10 to filet a 15lb tuna seems high considering the end product (loins soaking it blood/salt water)
Better off taking your fish to 5-star

The side money the crew gets for fish cleaning he would not make a "move" to give the crew a rest.He was looking for better, his job.Tom

I went on the aztec 2 years ago and he gave us the full itinerary and kept updating it. Told us we would start out at the east fly, slide over to the 60 and then head out to a temperature break that he thought should be holding. Then gave us updates all day on what the temps were doing, how far away he thought the break was, etc. I will wager the mission belles captain was tired of crowds and a pick bite and went looking for better.

Since he did not answer. By the counts it was thursday august 29. And yes it does look like every other boat did better that day.

Look here GUY you think you had a bad day??
Went on the Grande 9/1 full load @55 anglers
Only 3 YFT for a full day charter. They didn't even post their numbers to boot.
How many threads do you see "GRANDE 9/1 FAIL!!!!" ?
Thats 52 pissed off folk right there but the difference between them and you is that they understand that it's fishing not catching. I totally get it the frustration of not getting a stellar day of fishing but maybe before bashing a solid SD boat all over BD consider that it's a big ass ocean and conditions change all the time.

Agree. Pretty bad when one fish per rod is a fail?? Did you fail? Or the others. I bet one guy on the boat might have had his limit. I have albacore trolled for two straight days the boat only stopped in the dark. Caught zero on the whole boat. Btw the entire fleet caught like 10 for 560 anglers. It’s fishing!! Not catching!
