I have to respectfully agree.
bring us the Mini Baja
I would sell my trini 16 and drop the newells if I see a mini Baja on the stores
andros5 2spd its what I went to for the size your talking penn just wont make.I dont fish Avets but look at all the sizes. When I started fishing back in the 60,s the choices were very simple seeker,cal-star rod, penn reel,Ande mono, mustad hooks that was the hot setup. Now with the market the way it is everything made out of country and the newer materials things have really changed.I,am going to get a few more penn reels now that they,ve started to upgrade things. One thing for sure if you don,t change and keep up your gone.
Here's my version of the mini Baja special. Penn 506 w upgraded drags, aluminum spool, Tiburon handle n frame, stainless internals
The old GS series are great reels just because all the gears from the little 525 all the way up to 555 had interchangeable gears with 4/0 sized carbon fiber drag washers. There are aftermarket 4 or 4.25:1 gears you can pop into them and then you get a crapload more cranking torque on a fish than the 6:1 stock. I just popped a 4.25:1 gear into a 525 I picked up from a board member...should make it a kick ass little durable bait reel. The only downside is I dislike the old handles...but all kinds of other handles fit like old daiwa sealine handle, older torium handles, or even trinidad handles.
