ive been thinking of upgrading my dated electronics. I currently have a c80 classic/dsm250/tm260 at the helm and an older garmin sounder for the back deck. My hope would be to get a 7-9” back screen integrated with a 12” front screen and be able to use the tm 260 50/200 transducer along with the included chirp transducer with the system. The thought is to buy the back screen first and buy the front screen and radar later, i dont want to get screwed buying a cheaper chirp back screen that i find later wont integrate with anything (i had looked at the simrad go7 xse). To accomplish this i am looking at either the raymarine es series or the simrad nss evo 2/3. I am not a huge fan of the garmins and furuno is out of the price range. It appears that simrad will run chirp and a 1kw 50/200 without an external sounder module and raymarine will not.... anyone with experience on this?

The reasoning behind this is that i just upgraded my main ducer after the old one got ripped off the boat the last time out, the 1kw tm260 beast renders the old garmin gpsmap498 useless as it has so much crosstalk, chirp should fix this it seams. I am also assuming the boat show will be the best pricing..... i have been eyeballing the reman nss units because of price.

A couple thoughts Brian. Chirp will still interfere if it sweeps through the frequency of the other ducer. And dude why the hate for Garmin ? Near as I can tell I have had way less issues, like none, compared to other brands. I also have yet to see any better screenshots from other brands chirp gear than my Garmin set up. But then again you seem to get along with my arch nemeses, Volvo Penta outdrives and tr1 kicker auto pilots lol. Merry Christmas

The newest Raymarine products ES will support sounder without a DSM. Talk to Mike Surdyk....Or the boat show is just around the corner!

BV is my house whiskey. No hate here. You could get me a bottle of BV wrapped in maxi pads and I’d still drink it Gary!

I thought i had read it will only power the chirp or the broadband, not both unless you get a broadband or chirp module..... could be wrong tho

How about saving the money and use it to fly to Alaska where there still are fish and weeks/months open for fishing? I could go along as a rod caddy/bartender.:D

    Ingredients
    • 20 to 25 sand dab (flounder) fillets
    • 4 cups cracker meal (seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder)
    • Cooking oil, for frying
    • Salt and pepper
    • Chopped parsley leaves, for garnish
    • Lemon wedges
ADD CHECKED ITEMS TO GROCERY LIST
    Directions

Coat the fillets on both sides with seasoned cracker meal. Heat about 4 to 6 tablespoons of cooking oil in a large shallow pan. Add sand dabs and fry over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes on each side. Remove the filets with a spatula and place on a warmed serving platter.

Use a little of the pan juices to pour over the fish. Keep them hot. Fry the remaining fillets, adding more oil if needed. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, to taste, and garnish with the parsley. Add lemon wedges and throw the fish away immediately and eat the pan!

Axiom pro has built in 1k sounder modules. Es does not.

Axiom pro is faster by a mile, and has a higher resolution screen.

Does the axiom pro have an internal 1kw 50/200 sounder as well or just the 1kw chirp the online info is confusing.

Just chirp and the 3D sounder. It’s the equivalent of a CP 470

Quick note here, the Axiom Pro WILL power both a 1kw CHIRP and 1kw 50/200 sonar. It can take a TM260 as well as a TM275.
