    Punta Mita 8/30 - 9/13

When I was packing for this trip, I actually contemplated whether or not to bring my jigging set-ups, as 95% of the fishing I do here is top-water. You just never know.
Typically, the water in September here is crystal clear and swarming with Pelagics. That was not the case on this trip – the water was green and very warm; 90 degrees. Though not ideal conditions, I knew Lora would have a game plan and we would eventually find some sort of action in this green desert, as usual, he did not disappoint.
Lora had found a new spot for bottom fishing in early August, due to the slow off-shore bite. When he would take clients there fishing for Snapper and Grouper, at least once every trip their catch would be eaten/converted by something they could not stop. He thought they were Amberjack, when he told me this I said “take me there and we’ll stop them.”
Highlights of this trip include a great AJ bite, a Rooster on a jig (a first for me), baby Cubera and Rooster from the sand, and a host of other reef species on ultra light gear.
If there is a point to this story, it’s that sometimes you have to take what is given to you and make the most out of it.
As always, a big shout out to my Mexican familia, you guys are near and dear to me.

    Enjoy the photos!

Nice work Adrian... Lora doesn't have any jogging or popping gear? I'll be down there end of October , need to get a hold of Lora.. Talked to him on FB and emailed and no response.. Guess Paris Hilton likes the phone only ...

Congrats on another great trip... Now take Sami up on his offer and kill some GBFT ;) that's the main thing I miss about being on east coast !

Another great post Age! Looks like the boys are learning some new tricks.

Never seen so many Aj's on a post about PV. I wonder if the warmer water brought them into the area?

We normally see a lot of sails, marlin and dorado and they vanished this summer from the Guaymas area in the Sea of Cortez, so we have had to jig 200' deeper than usual, and have even started to deep drop with bait to 600' to find fish in cooler water. Have caught some large grouper, cow, cod, but also have landed some big sharks, white sea bass and yellowtail deep which surprised me.
We normally reach 88 but saw temps 93 this summer, and have seen more big sharks than I can remember.
