So, after much deliberation, I've finally decided on the #40 set up I've been looking for. Discussion lurkers like myself have probably read the myriad of threads regarding this topic (and there is plenty of content to be found by using the search feature). I want to thank all of the experienced members on this board as your input has made this a VERY informed decision. Because I am a huge fan of Calstar, my choice is the 875h. This model had everything I was looking for with it's mix of a softer tip and solid backbone. I did however make it all my own by custom ordering a deckhand wrap straight from the factory. We all have our preferences and I like the sensitivity and feel this provides. Since I am 6'4" , I also like the reel 1 1/2" to 2" forward of the typical position and both of these factors are now addressed. Thanks to Eric, Jim, and all the guys at the Longfin, I will have it just the way I wanted it. I have been to many shops and my business will always head their direction. The co-pilot for this rod will be a Penn Fathom 25n. At this time, I haven't decided between the star drag or two speed. I have a 40nld2 on a 800xh and it is a wonderful combo at both 50 and 60 (yes it's light for 60 but I feel you can REALLY pull without fear on it) and I really like the 2 speed for this class. Regardless it will be filled with 50# solid spectra to my typical 4'-5' flouro topshot. I want to thank all of the BD community for the hours and hours of reading, advice, and good old fish porn. Happy holidays to you all and I hope to be sharing the rail with many of you very soon.
