Headed out with Dean on his boat the Bank Robber. Joining us was Tony aka Taz.

Decided to go local and see if we could find some stray WSB and give the halibut a look as well. The squid are still thick in the bay so with gave it a shot.

Made it out on the grounds around 3p and tried to jig up some daytime squid. Slow at first but Dean managed enough to start fishing.

Tony's drag start to scream. We hoped for the best but, shortly into the fight it was becoming obvious what it was...bat rays were thick as the eye can see.

    Captain Dean Sexy Pantz relaxing.

Tony and his best attempt to wrap the prop.

Eventually Dean found some thick meter marks and we went to town jigging up squid.

Me with a nice load. Not yet loaded.

Squid boats moved in thick and so did the squid float.

    Sunset of no regret.

    Crowdin' fools into the night.

    Bait and food.

Actually enjoyed the mass schools of big and small bat rays that would cruise through the float. They would come in slow and then take off quick. Fast moving beasts when they want to move.

Lots of these throughout the night. Clicker would go off, hopes would rise only to be dashed by the flapping of wings. Still had a blast and some good laughs.

Gave the halibut a good shot in the morning and were rewarded with one 17" sole.

Hit a few rocks spots and headed in around 2p as the wind picked up.

Thanks Dean for a fun local trip. Didn't get our target but I would do it again in a heart beat. :D

    Good fishing you Tony. :D

The Rays are thick out there as are the Squid and Molas. The Soles are pretty thick in spots too. Just wish those did it for me. Good try though.

    Mediocre at best :D

Well you can't win if you don't play! Thanks for coming Jason and Tony! I had good time it's always nice to get out on the water and you had to love the weather we had!.

On a side note I really wanted to run down to San Diego and hit the 1010 for offshore stuff but Jason had to be home early on Sunday so we stayed local. Good thing we did because my truck barely made it back to the house! The clutch on my AC compressor jammed and stalled the engine right in the middle of the street. I was stuck there completely blocking the road for about an hour and had to have a couple buddies come over to help me get out of it. Got it repaired and I'm back in biz.
