Matt Bush is in trouble again
    From today's UT
    Friday, April 3, 2009

From coast to coast, trouble continues to brew for former Padres No. 1 draft pick Matt Bush.

This time, the former Mission Bay High standout was released by the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday after an incident at a party in Dunedin, Fla., where he was pitching in the team's minor league organization.

At the party early Tuesday, someone had drawn markings on his face, according to a complaint made with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. He blamed a 23-year-old female, and she accused him of throwing a baseball past her head and banging on her car window to scare her, according to the sheriff's office. She said he appeared intoxicated and acted belligerently.

The Florida state attorney is reviewing the case for possible charges. Bush was not arrested, and there were no injuries reported.

The Blue Jays said he was released for “failing to comply with team guidelines that were set out for him” and gave no further details.

Toronto acquired Bush, 23, in a trade with the Padres in February. The Padres designated him for assignment one day after he allegedly was involved in an altercation with lacrosse players at Granite Hills High Feb. 4. The San Diego District Attorney's Office filed four misdemeanor charges against him in connection with that incident. He has a pretrial conference scheduled for May 1.

Bush also had been wanted in San Diego on an arrest warrant for failing to appear at his arraignment stemming from a 2004 underage alcohol possession citation. That warrant was cleared by his attorney last week. His court date on that case is set for April 30.

Here is an example of an individual that needs to go to AA classes. If he can get help with his abuse he can still turn it around. If he can pitch and fix his life he can get beyond this. Fix your life first, pitch in either an independant league or Mexican league, do well and you will get your career back on track. Will it happen, probably not but he is still very young and can learn from past mistakes.

But ultimately you still have to help yourself or it will not work.

Absolutely agree. Matt has to admit their is a problem first and then be willing to fix it. If he does then he has a chance. Maybe prison will wake him up.

I was just about to type the same thing!

Hopefully he'll make a lifestyle change, because he has mega talent. He could be one of the big gun in MLB. Too bad the little bastard doesn't have a mentor for some guidance. He better grow up soon or in a few years he will be found in a motel room, O.D.'d due to severe depression... his corpse will be lying beside an appology letter to all of those in his life he's let down in his life...........

He has tarnished his own reputation and only he can clean that tarnish off. There still plenty of time, the dude's 23 he better wake up really fucking soon.

Being that Matt is my best friends brother,I am praying for him. It is hard for all of us who know him well to see him throw away all that he has worked for. We all hope that he can get his life together and make it in the big leagues someday. Let us not forget that we were all young and dumb at some point in our lives, hopefully this will be the last strike against him (hes had like seven now). It was hard for him to deal with all the pressure that was given to him and alcohol was his crutch. He was given a large sum of money when he was very young and this was not a good thing for a 19yr old to be responsible with. Friends and family are trying to help him to deal with his problems and, lord willing, he will be soon on the right track to a better life
