Mangrove Snapper on fire and a lot more in pictures
For many of us who were born into a fishing family fishing is more than a hobby, it's a way of life.
My 'way of life' began as Japan was signing the formal surrender papers on the Mighty Mo:
This Florida Native's 'way of life' began attempting to catch the elusive Mangrove Snapper around the mangroves of yesteryear around what is now the Howard Frankland Causeway.
Today things are a 'little' different:
The mangroves are long-gone, however, Mangrove Snapper fishing remains strong from inshore to Deep Sea.
Fellow Florida native Captain Dylan Hubbard's passion is Mangrove Snapper fishing. And that's just the beginning.
After the catch is every bit as exciting as the catch itself:
Deep Sea Mangrove Snapper tend to be a 'little' larger than their inshore counterparts.
Let's take a look:
That's Tim Fischer with Captain Garett Hubbard. Tim travels from Indiana, over 1,000 miles, to catch our Florida Mangrove Snapper.
Omar, better known as the Big 'O', has been fishing with Hubbard's for over 1/2 a century.
Mangrove Snapper fishing is for everyone:
Mangrove Snapper can be caught 24/7 twelve months out of the year; there is NO closed season:
Way out here they don't grow them BIG; they grow them HUGE!
If you are looking for a fight:
If you are looking for one of the best eating grouper ever to swim:
To talk about "best eating" is to talk about the food on the Florida Fisherman ll:
As the water temperature cools the Gag fishing will get even HOTTER!
They can even be caught in Tampa Bay.
To talk about 'best eating' is to talk about Hogs that swim & hogs that walk on all fours:
This is Our Florida. Inshore fishing is also fantastic.
Let's take a look at some proud Florida anglers showcasing their recent catches on Captain Dylan Hubbard's 'Good Catch' Channel 13 Friday morning TV show:
Think Cobia put up a good fight? they do!
But they are not alone:
Bob's all-time favorite:
Ever watch a Snook as this mighty fighter leaps for the heavens in an attempt to, way too often, throw the hook?
I have been catching Redfish almost as long as I have been catching Trout.
Good to see that they are still going strong:
