left MDR at 730 am. There was a sea lion on the ramps. Marine sea life rescue mentioned they had picked up 8 in the past two days. Some illness from the algae bloom. Sea lion looked as if it lost its equilibrium. I proceeded to Malibu. Great conditions. Calm and water looked cleaner. 60.54 degrees. Porpoise and bait. Not much current. A few sandbass and calico on sardines. Lost one bigger something. 30-90 feet water. Conditions are improving but still cold.

How’s the bait and launch situation out of mdr? Been wanting to fish that stuff but haven’t made it there in years

People can never let nature run its course. They will pump them full of antibiotics and hand feed them sardines to release them to become dependent on stealing bait and fish from fishermen.

Agree, the conditions UP THERE look great and once the water hits 64 look-out, my opinion of course. Thank You for the information/report!

I’m not sure about letting nature run it’s course. It’s seems like we caused the red tide and the sea lions look really bad. Antibiotics may not be the best approach but the amount of trash and oil and Mylar balloons are our fault. Yes I am looking forward to June gloom to letting up and hope the water gets clean, blue, clear and warm.

You nailed it!
If nature is allowed to take its course though, Peta would "take" action. Nobody wants to be on their wrong side, especially when PETA gives so much geech, for the protection of their ideology and often at our cost.

Damn. Nice fish. Dine on the dropper loop and slow drift? Trap hook? That monster is about 10 dinners! Awesome fish. They do wait till the sun comes out. Maybe I’ll run the scout boat whaler 17 up there mid week and hunt that area again. I’m getting sick of buying fish at Whole Foods!

Sounds like domoic acid poisoning which is caused by some kind of toxic algae or plankton bloom which gets into the food chain then works it's way up to Marine mammals. It causes that
loss of equilibrium and disorientation and in years past they've been known to attack humans and bite surfers. Steer clear if you see seals in unpredictable.
