Hey guys been a long time lurker over here and wanted to give back a bit and post my current project. I’ve had the hull for about a year and still have a long way to go but this is how I stand right now. I will post up some pics of the progress and add details later.

here is the mess I started with.

Trashed the whole liner.

Kinda conch looking without the cap. New one will follow those lines.

Used melamine as a mold and filled in the transom cutout. Marine plywood is going back in. I know I know, shame on me:p

Needed an outboard bracket so decided to build one.

transom is two ply 3/4 and 6 layers 1708 front and back. Everything is epoxy. There will likely be an additional 2 layers when said and done.

Plastic wrap makes the curves easier.

Mounted.

Stringers extend through boat transom and butt up against bracket transom. Nice and strong.

It’s been brutally hot here so I’ve been doing some work on the cnc and making up my hatch molds. This will be my bilge hatch it is 22x32.25 with a 2” gutter. It will get the Corners filleted and the edges rounded over sanded then duratec then sanded out to 1000. PVA, wax then laid up.

been hot and rainy for weeks. Got some grinding and cleaning done and thats about it. sucks working outside. I did manage to get some power! twin merc 4 stroke 150's. Looks like 2.5-3+ mpg will be pretty easy from what im hearing. Came with enertia 19p's on them which i think will be a good one to stick with but open to suggestions.

Thanks guys. Yea it can get dangerous in a tyvek suit when it gets 90+. It’s hard to work more than an hour without getting dehydrated. Eating this elephant one bite at a time as they say.

Well I’m extremely excited that the hatch mold worked. Probably too excited lol. Long story short I sanded a small lip into the gutter by accident which lead to making it less fair than it started and I just went for it...the hours were starting to add up too high.

anyway it came out awesome. Laid the gel on thick so there’s some room to fair out the alligator. The mold it also in good shape just needs a few spots re worked. Should be able to get quite a few off this mold.

What are your plans for the molds once the project is done?

I’m going to sell them to sbsurfer for a hefty fee :D I’ll probably sell this one as it’s not perfect but for a project guy it’s great just needs a bit of fairing. I own a CNC so these kinds of molds are easy if you need something custom. Now that I have the hang of it haha
