I am new to Kayak fishing. Going next week to La Jolla for the first time. I have never made my own bait ....usually buy at Dana Point. I know to use Sabiki jigs but have never used them before.... do i just attach to a rod and drop down? Put on a little bait to the Sabiki? Chum the water with bread? Cut up bait??

Sold my Parker. You can find me on the Red Rooster.
Generally you just put a weight on the sabiki rig and drop it down to the bait. Having a fish finder will help you determine how deep to fish. I never bait my sabikis and don't chum.

If you get a bait tore up by a missed hit (say from a Halibut) keep it to use strips of skin on the Sabiki. Strips that are about as long as the hooks seem to work best for Macks and Sardines.
Using a 3/16 to 1/2oz. Kastmaster spoon for a weight on the Sabiki can be good to catch bigger bait and attract small bait to the sabiki hooks.
