The fishing right now outside of Magdalena Bay San Carlos is above and beyond the norm for this time of year, which is always great! Our last group of only 3 clients spent almost no time at all in 3 days without rods bent. One day the best we can count on marlin was 29 striped marlin, 2 blue marlin, and around 15 to 20 dorado. After around 10 marlin we lost track and we released dorado left and right. In the 3 days we had somewhere close to 42 marlin 40 dorado and in reality it was more like 2 offshore only, because we got tired of marlin 2 of the 3 days and came in early searching for grouper, (which we did not find unfortunately) but we did find quite a few small yellows, bonita, and a bunch of other bottom fish. The seas were pretty rough with alot of wind so we just were not able to search for wahoo out on the ridge, and any lines that hit the water the marlin or dorado were grabbing in minutes. It was funny to leave a huge school of marlin at noon to go for grouper, but we used light tackle so clients were pretty tired. Long story short, if you are coming to mag bay get ready for some serious fishing, if you are not might want to plan a trip for guaranteed marlin as long as weather lets us get out. We did kill 3 marlin, one blue that died on the line because it was on a triple marlin hookup and could not chase anything, and the other two to feed people we provide fish to in the town and to fill client coolers. Other than our daily limits, all fish were released. Here are a few pics.
