I might just suck at fishing, but recently I've noticed my luck is more often bad than good. I'm pretty sure the fish gods are just out to get me. Anything special or superstitious that you guys do to turn your luck around? At this point I'm ready to try anything. Thanks (this is both a joke and a cry for help)

Confidence is critical to fish successfully...
To me Luck is something fortunate that happens unintentionally ....
If you are walking down the street and happen to see a $20 bill out of the corner of your eye on the ground that is luck..
If you are walking down the street specifically looking for money on the ground and find it to me that is not luck..
We do a lot of things while fishing to make it happen so when it does happen luck has nothing to do with it .
    IMO......
Just be confidant and make it happen...

Confidence and a positive attitude all day. I don't invite people fishing, I invite them to load the boat and kill stuff.

When Im going out, I tell everyone Im gonna wack them. All day every day. Never stop the positive attitude. I don't wack them every day, but I do often.

I promised the fish gods if I could get a 20lb+ salmon 2 Saturdays ago I'd throw a $20 in the ocean. I got two. $20 was well worth that.

Well that's great advice. I think I gotta learn to rely on preparation and more experience rather than claiming bad luck when things don't go perfectly.

I can't tell you how to change your luck for offshore because I suck at it. Like big time.

But for me to get better at bass fishing, I went a lot, read a lot and stuck with a couple techniques that I wanted to "perfect".

Crankbaits and pork n jigs for greenies? I'm your man.

    Yellowtail, yellowfin, and bluefin? Fuhgedaboutit.

Fishing is like playing poker. Each hand dealt can be considered luck however averaged out skill prevails. If you have the skill then sooner or later the luck will change and you will get your good days.

In the meantime, take the bad days and reflect on what could have been done to make it better or techniques used. Read reports from people around the same time and see what they did.

I fished an area same day as someone else, I skunked, they didn't, so what did I do different etc.

The saying "its better to be lucky than good "makes no sense .. if you want to be good at something you must become consistent...
Luck is anything but consistent ...

Some tips on catching more fish on party boats..

    1. Get to the landing extra early to get the prime overrated corner spot and pray you picked the right corner.

    2. Whatever baits on or in the bait tank fair game. Some foo defrosting his shrimp, you better get some.. Only brought enough for himself.!?!? Fuk that BS..!! Chuck that shit overboard.

    3. If you win jackpot give it to the crew. Next time you go, the main DH will put u on the fish, unless he forgotten who you are, then he wont tell you jack shit..!!

    4. Dont be scared to fish on other ppl #. If your # suxz, then go to the back and look for a crack and squeeze your ass in. But if you try to squeeze into my #, ill beat yo ass..!!

    5. Nubs = no competition..!! Fish right next to them and make them feel like a fool.

    6. Dont be a nice guy cause they always finsh last...

Fishin can be tough on a crowded party boat. Sometimes you just got to do, whatever you need to do, to catch fish...
