Well just pick up a 2007 trophy pro 2052 WA this week for fishing with the family. Went through the test run and checked everything out on it before the original owner and I took it out on the water to give it a run and I fell in love with it. Everything on it is great including the motor, which started like a charm and ran flawlessly for the hour on the water I got to "test drive" it. The inboard only has 104 hours on it and the only reason I am making this post is to ask a quick question about cleaning the Lower unit/prop and hydraulic area. The owner said that while he was ordering a new trailer for the boat he kept it at the marina and in the saltwater for a little while. While the prop is running fine, plus he included a new prop, I find the need to clean entire thing before taking it back into the water and just wanted to clean the outside before anything.

My idea was to use some type of calcium or rust remover and an old toothbrush not to damage anything, I got the idea of soaking it in a citric acid solution with a bucket and needed to know if this was okay to do. Any help would be appreciated...:)

    Thank you,
    Jacob K.

I don't know why but the pictures look way worse then it auctaly is. I can just scratch off the green with my nail. As far as the paint it isn't corroded off as far as I can tell. I'm going to take it to the mechanics and see what it could use. Thanks for the help bud. :)

Thanks man, took three hours of sanding and then let it soak in a heavy duty garbage bag filled with one gallon of CLR diluted in water to break up the algae before I painted it.

    Nice job on the clean-up.

Now you will need to replace the zincs on the front, rear and trim rams of the outdrive. That will help prevent any corrosion on the outdrive.

Don't forget the zinc behind the prop. Good idea to pull the prop and regrease the splines once a year.

Also take a careful look at the hose clamps that hold the bellows. If they have not been bonded preoperly to the O/D they can waste away pretty quickly in the saltwater.
