I took my brother down to the 9 and it didn't look promising once we got there. It's the first time for him taking on a real trip on the Panga so I had high hopes something would happen. Found some empty paddies and that keep us going until the Bonito show erupted. It lasted less than a an hour but is was spectacular. They pushed up bait balls and just stayed on them. Bait was ridding the backs of bonito. Big bonito going air born and swallowing everything we threw at them. Big Bonito. My brother had a chipped tip guide and lost a couple until I asked him to check his guides. Now he knows...
We left the 9 and got back to the bay to relax and fish the rest of our cupcake baits. PEEERRRfect bay bait. Tiny deans that got bit on every cast. Then I get hung up "on a rock"... "shit, I'm stuck.. Oh wait!" And out of the Bays murky depths dinner just floated into the net!

awesome! I am a boat newbie and Ive gotta quick question for ya.

I've finally dialed in the skiff and Im hoping to get out to the nine in the next week or so. I've gotta little 17' Whaler, w/ a 110 on it. Usually cruises at 25 mph. How long will it take to get there in good condditions? I know there is a south, middle and northern 9. I'd like to fish the whole bank. Also, do you need a mex license, fmm, passport?

    Nice feeeeesh!

Lower 9 is in Mexican waters so all paperwork should be in order. In the Panga with favorable conditions it's an hour to North Island.
