It should be good. Wind has really laid down the last week and the temp has turned for the better.
I'm in Vista right now on a supply run and it's cold and wet! 😆

I hoping to do a Pargo specific day for one day fishing.
My amigo sent me these last night. Getting it figured out looks like.
Heading back down today now that I got all my chores done.

Good day. Yellows starting to boil on the surface, but they are keying on micro sardines. Big surface schools of small sardines (<2") all over the north end of Isla Carmen from Choya to Lobo. Kind of early for them i think.
Most of the fleet grouped up just the north west of Lobo(can't remember the name of that spot). Using macks and yoyo.
We chased pargo today, shredded 15 mackerel for two cubera in the bag. We picked up 3 yellows on surface iron out of about 7-8 boils. Viento pretty light. Water approx 64°, temp about 75 and sunny.
Mackerel off and on with sabiki on the south end of Coronado. Good things to come!!

Another great day on the Barracuda. We ran north to San Bruno to chase species other then yellowtail. Still caught two not even really trying. My son had the hot stick today.
Nice cabrilla, a dink yellow, a nice red snapper, multiple pintos, red rockfish, whitefish, and a decent Baquetta. I caught one rat yellow and a few pintos. Plenty content watching him.
Great day with Jorge, the Admiral, and the boy.

Got up 5 minutes before my alarm went off morning at 4:45 to give myself enough time to do my morning business and have a cup of Joe before heading for the marina at 5:45. Coffee pot hadn't started for some reason...? Walked out to the rig to leave and was surprised at how dark it was, not even normal morning twilight. Still wasn't completely awake yet when I got in the burban and the clock said 4:45. ???

Cell phone had changed the time to Mexican daylight savings. Unfortunately, Baja Sur doesn't observe daylight savings anymore! Oh well, went to the marina an hour early. Glad to know I wasn't the only one that was fooled, as my amigo Armando was already there there too wondering why the gate wasn't open yet and no one was launching.

Targeted pargo. Boated one snapper after getting hammered 15 times. Playing with different rigging styles. A stinger hook is a must.

Forecast was for calm wind until around 1, but was a little off. Pretty windy out of the north east. Found a couple boils, managed a few smaller yellowtail on the surface iron and snipers. They did not want mackerel, still keying on smaller bait on the top. Lots of yellows cruising the surface on the north side of Carmen, just rough conditions yesterday.

Are you targeting the Pargo at the islands or near shore? Can’t wait to get down there.
When are you getting into town? Got a boat lined up?
At the islands and main shore in a few spots. Spawning is why they're in there close to shore( at least that's what the panganeros say) I guess they are only there for 8 weeks or so. I have accidentally caught them in deeper water on occasion while targeting cabrilla in deeper water. Much easier to boat them if you are vertical on them.

Arriving the 15th and leaving the 20th, my friends booked the Pangas through Arturo’s.
You should be good amigo. Just tell them you want to target the pargo and to order lots of macs. Then chase the jurel boils with irons on the north end of Carmen in the tarde on the way back. They will know what's going on when you get here.
The boils are the epitome of yellowtail fishing for me. I'm not all that interested in catching the trolling macks.
I should still be here. Let me know if you guys need to vacuum bag and freeze ur fish. Just bought a new chest freezer.

Last report for me this spring, heading back north in a few days so the admiral doesn't burn my stuff....

Fishing with Pancho Barracuda and a couple of my local amigos. Very calm winds yesterday. Last couple days have been mid 80's, water still pretty cool, but I didn't happen to look too see the temp. Headed out at 6, grabbed some macs (receiver only had 15 for us, slow fishing for them some nights and lots of orders to fill this time of year). Couple boats fishing mac's just off the SW side of Coronado, but we headed for the North side of Carmen. Lots of boats working the few boils, most hotrodding right into the middle of them. Some fish tailing around and sardines on the surface. Birds pretty calm. Chucking surface irons and yoyo, one of us with a dropper mac. I hung one on a blue/white tady 4/0 and we picked one up on the Mac. Armando hooked up to something big with a blue/chrome Sumo and got rocked after a brief fight, couldn't stop it. Big Amberjack maybe. The mac picked up a decent cabrilla, then we called Listo and headed north east on pretty flat seas.

Reverse dropper with live Mac, a 300 gm knife jig, and a 3 hook chicken rig/dropper with Mac chunks. 400' ish depth.

Chicken rig was hot, several double and triples of Mex rock fish and smallish Baquetta, occasionally catching white fish, Sandia or pintos. Live mac produced a couple nice Baquetta but no really big ones. Couple good rock fish and pescado blanco on the knife and other yoyos.

Headed for the marina at 12:30 with sore arms. Bien Dia! Lots of fun with Pancho and my amigos. Mucho pescado to fillet and get ready to travel back to Montana. Finished the day with a great meal with Armando's family at a birthday party, jurel and Carne asada tacos, some of the best ceviche i have ever had. Everyone was so nice. Really love this place and the people that live here.

Back to reality next week unfortunately...

I was down for a quick trip with my old man from 4/8-4/11. Fished with Jorge on the Barricudita for 2-1/2 days. Awesome guy.
Sunday we hat YT limits +1 big cabrilla by 12:00 fishing NE side of Carmen. Fish were taking yo-yo and the bird shit surface iron. Macs accounted for 6/10.
Monday- same spot. Boils we’re all around until 8:30 then shut off quick. We had 5 in the box and lost a few more. Jorge worked hard all day but it was slow the rest of the day. Hit a big boil on the run back and stuck one on the iron.
Tuesday- had to be back to the marina by 11:00 for the flight home so we left a little early. Not much bait. Had to run North to find the bait guy who was struggling. Picked up 15 Macs and headed back to Carmen. Saw lots of fish on the surface but a huge amount of micro bait moved in today and had the fish spread out everywhere. No big boils to speak of. Ended up scratching out 3 nice YT between 9-10:00 on the macs. We regretfully left them biting, but had a long run back and a flight to catch.
