Went out with Pancho Barracuda yesterday. Brought my neighbor and the kid that works for him, who had never caught a YT. Wind was forecasted to pick up around mid day.

Picked up some macks and headed for East side of Coronado to see if any YT were on the surface. Chilly run but all I needed was my wind breaker/rain coat. No action apparent so went straight to San Bruno.

4-5 other boats there with a couple more behind us. Some jigging, most dragging baits. We put one down at 90' on the rigger, and another one on a reverse dropper, which picked up first fish 5 minutes later. Victor the Yellowtail virgin busted his cherry on a 20# ish model. Was really cool to watch him deal with it, reminding me of my first yellowtail.
After a slow next 20-30 minutes Pancho moved us off towards the beach 3-400 yards and we immediately picked one up on the rigger. "Too many boats right there" Pancho said.
Not wide open by any means, but steady action all morning. My neighbor and I both got one, then let Victor pull on the rest while we cheered on.
Had around 12 bites and we put 6 in the box and headed for the barn around 11 before the wind started to whip up, timming it perfectly to have a relatively smooth ride back. Great day with my amigo Pancho.

Once we got fish cleaned etc, headed to Poblano's in Miramar for some El Pastor tacos.
Love this place!!

Sounds like a great day, I love San Bruno.
Yeah, it consistently produces fish for sure. There were a bunch of YT there, stacked up on the graph pretty good. Water was cold, 59*. It looking to be a good spring, few more weeks and it should really start going off once the temps start warmimg and the winds calm a bit. Was 74 in town yesterday, cooler today.

Calm winds and overcast today. Me and a amigo decided to give the Yellowtail a pass and do the rockfish. Great day with plenty of pinto's, rock cod, and a few Baquetta. Headed for the marina at noon.
Heard the Yellowtail are starting to spread out a little, good reports from multiple locations.
Not many pictures today, pretty lazy fishing.

Looks like an awesome trip! I write the Baja fishing reports for Western Outdoor News. Would you mind if I include your story in our next issue? If so, can you just tell me what your first name is and I'll include it in the report? Let me know, thank you! Megan

Very flat today. I couldn't go because of a meeting with my lawyer. Sounded like the whole fleet was planning on heading for San Bruno reef. Finding Mac's and sardines has been an issue.
Going Saturday if the wind forecast holds up, and Sunday/ Monday are looking really good.

Using macs if they can find them. The bait guys have been hit or miss, and not being able to always fill the orders. Sardines or Yo-Yo is the alternative with the usual colors/types. Mixed success with those methods. I have not heard of anybody getting skunked, and the panganeros that really know the fishery are consistently producing a box full of good grade fish.

Going Saturday, forecast looking good into next week.

That is a great write-up. Headed down for the month of April and can't wait! Would you mind sharing contact info for Barracuda?
Email or whatsapp is best to get in touch with him. He speaks pretty good English too. He was pretty booked up for April last I talked to him, but he may have an opening or two. He has another boat the Barracudita that either his brother Jorge or brother in-law Juve run for him. Both are too notch skippers as well. The Barracudita is a little smaller boat then the Barracuda and can only fish two people.

Yeah, eventually I'll have one here too. Have to finish a couple other projects at the casa before I pick one up for here.
I really enjoy fishing with Barracuda, and he's pretty in tune with what's going on at any given time. 300 a day is worth every penny!

The vientos laid down this morning. Sabikied for macks on the south side of Coronado, took about a half hour for us to get 30 ish in the well.

Headed for San Bruno into a light swell coming out of the north. Picked up a double about 15 minutes in and boated both. Boxed another one 15 minutes later, then got rocked by a larger model. Swell had laid down but the bite slowed for us, and with 20ish boats around the high spot, we decided to head closer into the beach and try for cabrilla.

Couple short nibbles, and then my amigo hooked into something big. He was running a Avet JX and could not stop it. Both thumbs on the spool and rod on the rail, rocked him in mere seconds. He never had a chance, straightup destroyed him haha! Was impressive to witness. We assume it was grande pargo. We hung around for a rematch until around two and headed for the barn. There was a bit of crying at the end, but over all a Great day!

The next few days are looking good. No vientos forcasted.

Chased pargo yesterday morning. Bait was available so we picked up 30 macks and headed for Carmen.
Had the big gear rollin to drag em out of the rocks. Went through all the macks, landed 2 pargo. VERY difficult to not get rocked on these big boys in shallow water. The two we caught were way smaller then the ones we lost...
Finished the day on the jigs catching pintos and rock fish. Wind has been good for the last week. Water temp low 60s and was around 75.

Pargo fishing can be frustrating the way they immediately take you to the rocks. It is still one of my favorite ways to fish in Loreto along with Cabrilla fishing with Sardinas. It's a pretty good day to come home with a few in the bag. I have yet to catch a really big one down there. Looks like you have had some nice days on the water. Thanks for sharing the photos.
